Singapore Is Paying People to Put Down Their Phones and Read Books

Singapore’s National Library Board launched ReadSG, a five-year campaign that rewards 15 minutes of logged reading with 20 virtual coins, worth S$0.02, redeemable for cash. Participants can earn one S$ after 50 consecutive days, and the program targets 7.5 million cumulative minutes to unlock a S$150,000 charitable donation. The initiative is in pilot phase, with plans to refine the program based on user feedback.
