SK Hynix will buy back $28.6bn of its own shares, the biggest repurchase in Korean corporate history

SK Hynix will repurchase 24.07 million common shares, equal to about 3.4% of its outstanding stock, for $28.6 billion between 20 August and 19 November. It raised its shareholder-return target to over 50% of cumulative free cash flow for 2025-27. The buyback follows a 9% share decline despite Q2 revenue of 79.32 trillion won (+257% YoY) and operating profit of 60.54 trillion won (+557% YoY). The company holds roughly 58% of the high-bandwidth memory market and has about 69 trillion won in cash while committing to large capital expenditures.
