The Slate Truck is great, but this one problem may stop a lot of folks from buying it

Slate’s electric pickup starts at $24,950 plus a $1,450 destination fee, offers a 205-mile range, and will be sold directly from its Indiana plant beginning in late 2026, but it is available only to U.S. residents. The U.S.–only rollout avoids additional certification, logistics and tariff hurdles, notably a 25% Canadian import duty that would erase the truck’s price advantage for cross-border buyers.
