Slovakia finds Russian backdoor in traffic speed cameras

Slovakia’s National Security Service (NBU) warned that the NERO R-ONE high-speed traffic cameras, purchased for a €30 million EU-funded project, contain a hard-coded Russian backdoor that grants shell and network access via SMS from specific Russian numbers. The devices, rebranded Russian CORDON PRO.M units from St. Petersburg-based Semicon, also lack SecureBoot, expose unauthenticated live streams, and have multiple web-portal vulnerabilities, prompting the Interior Ministry to halt deployment and seek an independent audit.
