Starcloud raised $250mn to buy rockets it cannot yet book

Starcloud secured a $250 million Series A extension, valuing the company at $2.3 billion and raising total funding to $450 million for satellite manufacturing, Nvidia-partnered engineering, and future launch slots. Its Starcloud-1 satellite, launched November 2025 with an Nvidia H100 GPU, achieved about 100-fold higher compute than earlier orbiting chips and trained the first AI model in space. The firm targets an 88,000-satellite constellation delivering 20 GW of orbital compute, currently has two 8-kW Starcloud-2 satellites scheduled for rideshare launches in 2027, and faces limited launch capacity as Falcon 9 retires and replacement vehicles remain unproven.
