Switzerland's Federal Government Is Replacing Microsoft on 3k Computers
Switzerland’s federal government is piloting an open-source workplace rollout for 3,000 employees, investing CHF 9 million to replace Microsoft 365 with the openDesk suite after a PoC involving 172 staff showed positive results for document processing and email, though video-conferencing limitations remain. The migration, mandated by the 2024 EMBAG digital-sovereignty law, will run alongside Microsoft 365 until the end of 2027, with the military already planning a full switch by October 2026.
