TechCrunch Mobility: Lyft has entered the robotaxi chat

Lyft integrated Waymo robotaxis into its Nashville platform, with Flexdrive managing fleet readiness, maintenance, and depot operations. Riders can book the driverless vehicles through the Wayman or Lyft apps. This is Lyft’s first commercial deployment of fully autonomous cars after selling its AV unit to Toyota’s Woven Planet for $550 million. Executive Vice President Jeremy Bird said Lyft will expand the Waymo partnership in Nashville and its Baidu collaboration in London throughout 2026, focusing on markets that allow hybrid AV-human fleets.
