Apple unveiled a Mac mini with a 2 nm M6 chip, a 12-core CPU/GPU, up to 32 GB unified memory, and performance claims of four-fold AI and double graphics/storage speed, starting at $899. It also released a Mac Studio using M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips, offering up to 4.3× faster AI, 1.8× faster graphics, and up to 512 GB memory, priced from $2,499. OpenAI said its Jalapeño inference chip delivers 1.5–1.9× more AI work per watt and 1.7–3.6× lower latency than Nvidia’s leading GPUs on several LLM benchmarks.
