A Texas judge has found TikTok liable for misleading parents about child safety

Texas District Judge Cory Liu ruled that TikTok violated state law by marketing its app as safe for children while knowingly allowing graphic content to appear, even with Restricted Mode enabled, and by classifying rule-breaking material as “hard to find” instead of removing it. Liability is established; the upcoming trial will determine civil penalties, statutory damages and a permanent injunction.
