There’s a Hot New Egg-Freezing Startup. It’s Weirder Than You Could Imagine

Cofertility, a Los Angeles startup launched in 2022, offers free egg-freezing to women who agree to donate half of the retrieved eggs to intended parents, creating an “egg-sharing” model that bypasses the typical $18,000 cost in New York City. The company recruits candidates through a two-minute quiz, markets the service as a feminist-framed bio-hack for Gen Z women, and has already signed dozens of participants like 24-year-old violist Yuchen Tu.
