There's a new "Google Jail" for independent wikis

The March 2024 Google core update limited new domains to appear only for their homepage, placing roughly 90% of fresh game wikis—such as gta.wiki and the Path of Exile 2 wiki—in a “Google Jail” that can persist up to a year. The restriction depends on the site’s first indexing date, not on content originality or domain age, and is bypassed by hosting wikis on subdomains of an existing domain, allowing articles to index normally and traffic to rise immediately.
