These drones could cover up to 98 percent of the world's oceans by 2028

France’s Ifremer agency successfully tested Deep-6000 drones capable of reaching 6,000-meter depths to monitor abyssal zone temperatures and salinity. By 2028, these 30 new deep-sea floats will join the international Argo fleet of 4,000 devices. This expansion enables researchers to collect climate data across 98 percent of the ocean’s total volume.
