They Dedicated Their Lives to Teaching. Then the Deepfakes Started

Luis DeSantiago, a substitute teacher in Los Banos, California, learned a student had used AI to turn his college mirror selfie into a nude image that spread on TikTok, Snapchat, AirDrop, and class chats. After the student admitted creating it and received in-school suspension, DeSantiago reported the incident to administrators, parents, and police, refused further assignments, and the district opened an investigation. Three other teachers have reported similar AI-generated sexualized media, citing severe distress and reconsideration of student interactions.
