Things to know before using your MacBook outside

Apple recommends operating MacBooks in ambient temperatures between 50 °F and 95 °F (10 °C–35 °C) and avoiding direct sunlight, which can overheat the chassis and permanently diminish battery capacity. Air models use passive cooling, Pro models active fans; both require shade, ventilation, and a hard, dry surface. High-brightness displays (500 nits Air, 1,000 nits Pro) consume more power in sunlight, so positioning away from glare conserves battery.
