TikTok is building a way to send money inside DMs

TikTok is building a peer-to-peer payment tool within direct messages that will use the TikTok Pay platform, letting recipients tap to accept funds before they expire and add a note like a Venmo caption. The code is hidden in the US iPhone app, but the feature is not yet being tested anywhere. TikTok Pay currently operates only in Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand, while the company’s commerce services have generated $2.9 billion in app spending this year.
