TikTok will pay Alabama $100 million to settle social media addiction lawsuit

TikTok will pay Alabama a minimum of $100 million to settle the state’s lawsuit alleging the app was deliberately designed to keep teens and kids addicted. The settlement requires TikTok to implement safety measures, including a two-hour daily time limit for underage users, parental controls, restrictions on unlimited scrolling and overnight access, a ban on beauty filters, and a non-personalized feed for younger users. If TikTok fails to adopt these changes, it could face up to $300 million in additional penalties.
