Tokyo court rules the human voice is protected, in a TikTok AI clone case

The Tokyo District Court ruled that Japanese publicity rights protect a performer's voice from unauthorized AI cloning when used for commercial appeal. Judge Aya Takahashi affirmed that vocal identity functions as a symbol of personality, though the court denied actor Kenjiro Tsuda’s request to remove specific TikTok videos that had already been deleted.
