Tooltips Need a Delay, and Then They Need to Skip It
On FrontPrep’s question pages, company logos trigger tooltips that initially appeared instantly because the delay was set to 0. Adding a 200 ms open delay solved accidental pop-ups but made adjacent logos feel sluggish, so the author implemented a 300 ms “warm” window that lets subsequent tooltips open instantly while the page remains warm. The solution uses Radix, Motion, and a React context to track warm state and skip the entrance animation.
