Top Pentagon official dismisses viral AI warning from an Anthropic researcher

Pentagon chief technology officer Emil Michael dismissed a former Anthropic researcher’s warning that AI could cause catastrophic loss of life by 2030, calling it fear-driven rhetoric. He said the department has already shifted roughly 90% of its classified AI workload away from Anthropic, with the remainder to be moved by the end of September.
