Torvalds joked that AI made Linux 7.3-rc2 this big, and nobody checked

Linux 7.3-rc2 contains 615 commits from 292 contributors, with tooling changes accounting for about 20% of the patch set and becoming the largest non-driver source of modifications, ahead of filesystems, core kernel and networking. Linus Torvalds noted the unusually large size, jokingly blamed AI, and highlighted that many contributions are assisted by AI tools, which must be marked with an “Assisted-by: LLM” trailer according to the kernel’s AI Coding Assistants policy.
