Travis Kalanick’s Atoms might be getting into the robotaxi business
Atoms, which raised $1.7 billion in a round led by Andreessen Horowitz, is gearing up for a hiring surge and acquisitions aimed at scaling its autonomous-vehicle business. The startup has discussed deploying robotaxi technology with Uber, which has already invested $100 million and previously acquired autonomous-mining firm Pronto, founded by former Uber self-driving chief Anthony Levandowski.
