Truecaller takes its scam intelligence to the open web as it looks beyond caller ID
Truecaller launched Scam Checker, a free web and Android tool that lets users paste a phone number, link, or message to see if it is fraudulent, using reports from its community feed ScamFeed. The service, initially available in India, will expand to Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia, and it pulls data from Truecaller’s risk database and fraud signals. Scam Checker also processes shortened URLs, follows redirects, and evaluates messages, with 20.3 million fraudulent messages flagged globally between September 14-20.
