Trump cuts fuel economy standards back to 2014 levels

The Department of Transportation issued a rule that lowers Corporate Average Fuel Economy targets to 34.9 mpg by 2031, a level below the 2020 standards. The final rule eliminates emissions credits from 2028 onward and removes plug-in electric and hybrid vehicles from fleet averages, potentially reducing OEM incentives to sell EVs and PHEVs.
