Trump plan to combat AI risks hinges on Big Tech pals policing themselves

Donald Trump has urged the AI industry to self-regulate, citing rising security incidents that forced OpenAI to pause training. Two dozen tech firms, including Anthropic, OpenAI, SpaceXAI, Nvidia, Meta, and Alphabet, agreed to adopt White House-recommended controls, undergo independent safety audits, and meet regularly to establish shared AI safety standards. The audits will focus on cybersecurity, biosecurity, chemical threats, and unintended AI actions.
