On Tuesday, Google, Anthropic, Meta, OpenAI, xAI, and Nvidia signed the White House Accord on Super Intelligence, pledging robust internal controls, empowered remediation teams, external independent monitoring, and board oversight to prevent rogue AI behavior. The voluntary commitments follow FTC plans to investigate consumer-protection violations and reflect ongoing debate over antitrust exemptions for AI safety coordination. The accords do not constitute sweeping regulation, and non-compliance could trigger deceptive-practice enforcement under the FTC Act.
