Trump's forced coal plant extensions thrown out by judge

A DC Circuit Court of Appeals panel unanimously ruled that the Department of Energy’s emergency declarations keeping the J.H. Campbell Generating Plant in Michigan open violated the Federal Power Act’s emergency criteria. The court held that the plant’s shutdown had not been justified by a wartime situation or a sudden energy shortage. The decision invalidates all similar DOE orders that have blocked coal plant closures.
