Two more newsrooms join the case against OpenAI and Microsoft

The Seattle Times and Newsday have filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and Microsoft, accusing the firms of systematically scraping their articles while bypassing paywalls. They argue this violates the EU’s general-purpose AI code, which obliges signatories not to circumvent subscription models or other access restrictions. The complaint alleges the scraped content was used to train the companies’ AI systems.
