The UAE is splitting up its $30bn AI data centre after Iran named it as a target

The UAE is redesigning its $30 billion “Stargate” AI data-centre from a single 26-km2 campus into a dispersed network of smaller sites to mitigate the missile-target risk highlighted by Iran’s video naming the project. The first phase, a one-gigawatt cluster delivering 200 MW this year, will incorporate military-grade hardening such as underground placement, blast-resistant concrete, and air-defence systems, while G42 continues to shift capacity abroad and untangle its Huawei ties.
