Unitree’s founder says robots are nearing a ‘ChatGPT moment’

Wang Xingxing said a “ChatGPT moment” for embodied intelligence will occur when a robot fulfills roughly 80% of voice or text commands in unfamiliar homes without scene-specific training, a milestone he predicts in two to ten years. He reported Chinese firms shipped over 40,000 humanoids in H1 2026, mainly to universities and labs, and said Unitree is heavily investing in world-model AI to bridge the software gap hindering commercial adoption.
