The US and Mexico Announce They’re Teaming Up Against Drones

From August 31 to September 21, US and Mexican forces deployed ground units on both sides of the San Diego-Tijuana border to locate and neutralize commercial drones used by criminal groups, employing fixed and mobile anti-drone systems that may include the Army’s Locust high-energy laser. The operation follows a bilateral agreement granting Mexico access to US anti-drone technology and targets human-trafficking, drug smuggling, and cartel-linked drone activity, with US Northern Command reporting roughly 300 illicit drones destroyed this year.
