US announces new sanctions on top ICC figures
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio imposed sanctions on ICC President Tomoko Akane and Senior Trial Lawyer Abdoulaye Seye, freezing assets, banning travel, and restricting U.S. company services. The sanctions target officials prosecuting governments that have not consented to ICC jurisdiction, including U.S. personnel in Afghanistan and Israeli leaders. The ICC condemned the measures as an attack on rule of law and independence.
