US Customs supervisor busted for stealing hardware from Homeland Security PCs
A Customs and Border Protection supervisor in Calais, Maine, stole Intel 14th-generation Core i7 Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs, RAM modules and hard drives from 46 DHS computers at three border facilities, replacing them with lower-spec parts. The components were exchanged via Newegg’s Trade-In program for about $2,600 in store credit, while the damaged government hardware is valued at $105,800. Surveillance captured the swaps during midnight shifts; the suspect has been arrested and charged with theft and property damage.
