US Military newspaper editor voices censorship fears after being fired

Stars and Stripes editor-in-chief Erik Slavin says he was dismissed for “insubordination” after telling CBS that hypothetical censorship would be a red line, and both he and Middle East reporter Lara Korte were fired following a CBS Sunday Morning interview. The firings, which also included publisher Max Lederer, occur amid Pentagon pressure on the newspaper’s editorial independence and a broader clash between the Trump administration and major news outlets over new reporting restrictions.
