Utilities are racing to link up with fusion startups, with Realta Fusion the latest to benefit
Realta Fusion announced a partnership with Madison Gas and Electric to study a 200-megawatt grid-connected fusion plant in Wisconsin, targeting construction in the mid-2030s, with the utility providing equity, land, interconnection sites, engineering support and financing. The deal follows similar utility-startup agreements, such as Commonwealth Fusion Systems with Dominion Energy for a 400-MW plant and Helion’s 50-MW Polaris project for Microsoft.
