Volkswagen is selling more EVs than petrol cars in Germany, and building them in Spain

Volkswagen now receives more electric-vehicle orders than petrol or diesel in Germany, its largest market, and has shifted production plans accordingly. The company cancelled extra shifts at Wolfsburg, where combustion models are built, and added at least two shifts at Emden (ID.7) and Zwickau (ID.3 Neo). Four budget electric models—ID Polo, Cupra Raval, Skoda Epiq, and Volkswagen ID Cross—have taken about 100,000 orders, all manufactured in Spain after a €3 billion Martorell plant upgrade and €10 billion electrification investment, sharing a platform that saved €600 million.
