Warren Spector, founding father of immersive sims, has retired from game development

Warren Spector, creator of Deus Ex and a pioneer of immersive-sim design, announced his retirement after 44 years in the industry, citing age and health concerns and a desire to write, read, lecture, and consult. He highlighted a career spanning tabletop games, 17 digital titles—including Ultima, Epic Mickey, and the recent Thick As Thieves—and involvement in the stalled System Shock 3 project.
