We have more details on Apple's camera-equipped AirPods and they are pretty dang weird

Apple’s upcoming camera-equipped AirPods each contain a 1-megapixel RGB still-image sensor that captures periodic photos, not video, and synchronizes the two images via on-device “Visual Intelligence” software to account for head movement and occlusion. The earbuds process images locally (“peripheral inference”), offer active and passive capture modes with differing quality, and include an indicator light to signal when the cameras are active, enabling Siri-based visual queries such as saving a viewed object.
