WebMCP: Teaching Your Website to Talk to AI Agents

WebMCP is a draft web standard co-developed by Google and Microsoft that lets a page expose structured “tools” via a small JavaScript API, enabling AI agents to discover and invoke functions with JSON-Schema-defined inputs and outputs. By running these calls in the user’s already-authenticated browser tab, the approach eliminates fragile screen-scraping and allows reliable, session-aware interactions such as booking a table or adding a to-do item.
