'Welcome to the AGI era': OpenAI launches GPT-6 Astra

OpenAI launched GPT-6 Astra, describing it as the first artificial-general-intelligence system that can autonomously operate browsers, spreadsheets, desktop applications and multistep workflows using only voice. Deployment begins Thursday for enterprise clients via Daybreak, followed by rollout to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, the OpenAI API, AWS Bedrock, and Microsoft Azure. Internal tests on an offline OSWorld 2.0 subset recorded a 72.6% success rate with an average of 40 minutes per task, exceeding GPT-5.6 Sol’s 65.7% performance.
