We've followed their lives for six decades; now the stars of 7 Up are bowing out

The documentary series 7 Up began in 1964 with fourteen seven-year-olds, including Jackie Bassett, and concluded with 70 Up, the longest-running TV study of British class and life trajectories. Creator Michael Apted filmed the participants every seven years, documenting Neil’s transition from childhood ambitions to homelessness and later local politics, and Jackie’s shift from rejecting motherhood to raising three children.
