What is a cold wallet and how does it work?

Cold wallets are offline hardware devices that store cryptocurrency private keys on tamper-resistant chips, never exposing them to connected phones or computers. Transactions are initiated via a companion app, displayed on the device’s screen, and require manual confirmation and a PIN, with failed attempts triggering a data wipe. This isolation protects assets from malware and third-party breaches.
