What is a dual-band router and why is it important for good Wi-Fi?

Dual-band routers broadcast Wi-Fi on 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz simultaneously, giving devices a choice between longer range and higher speed. The 2.4 GHz band penetrates walls and reaches distant rooms, while the 5.0 GHz band delivers faster throughput but has limited range. Most routers automatically assign devices to the optimal band, and many allow prioritization for gaming or streaming.
