Vibe coding, coined by Andrej Karpathy in February 2025, refers to using large language models such as Cursor Composer with Sonnet to generate entire codebases, a practice that has expanded as LLMs improve. Research from Georgia Tech identified 74 vulnerabilities—14 critical—among 43,000 advisories linked to AI-generated code, and a survey of 1,100 programmers found 72% use AI tools daily, with 42% of their code AI-generated or assisted, projecting over half by next year.
