What languages are agent skills written in?

In Q1 2026, 13.0% of newly written AI agent skills were non-English, rising to 16.3% three months later across 255,068 skills. Language detection on the GitSkills dataset found 14.3% of skills non-English, with Chinese comprising 6.2% (104,985 simplified, 9,112 traditional) versus 3.3% in GitHub documentation. The analysis shows the non-English share mirrors overall repository trends, while tooling and filtering do not account for the observed differences.
