What’s the Best Pet DNA Test? We Tested the Most Popular Ones

Wisdom Panel’s cat kit identifies over 70 breeds, 45 health tests, blood type, and 25 traits, delivering results online within three weeks; both cats tested A blood type and moderate transfusion risk. Basepaws offers a single test for up to 21 breeds, 64 health markers, 50 trait markers, and oral health, but requires five weeks and can fail to extract DNA, as happened with Basil. The two kits differ in breadth of ancestry coverage and report format, with Wisdom Panel providing a user-friendly interface and Basepaws delivering a detailed PDF.
