What's the difference between Dolby Atmos and lossless audio?

Dolby Atmos is an object-based audio system that places sounds in three-dimensional space using vertical and horizontal positioning, while lossless audio preserves the original recording by delivering bit-perfect playback via codecs such as FLAC or ALAC. Streaming services typically offer either Atmos (using the lossy Dolby Digital Plus codec) or lossless tracks, and true lossless listening requires wired connections or specialized Bluetooth codecs and often an external DAC for hi-res formats.
