WhatsApp is replacing its six-digit security PIN with a real password

WhatsApp is replacing the six-digit two-step verification PIN with a full alphanumeric password that can include letters, numbers and special characters, and now supports multiple passkeys per account for Android and iOS. The company reports that over a billion users have already created a passkey, making it the largest passwordless deployment among consumer services. Android users will also see additional context for calls from numbers outside their contacts, such as foreign origin or shared groups.
