WhatsApp tightens account security with stronger two-step verification and more

WhatsApp is adding stronger two-step verification that lets users replace the existing six-digit PIN with a longer alphanumeric password containing special characters, and it now supports multiple passkeys per account for cross-platform use on iOS and Android. Passkey logins employ Face ID or fingerprint authentication, eliminating reliance on vulnerable passwords. Android callers will also see country origin and shared-group information when receiving calls from numbers not in their contacts.
