Who People Talk to When They're Struggling
Across all religious groups, roughly 80% of respondents are very or extremely comfortable discussing mental health with their spouse; LDS members report nearly 90% comfort. About 50-60% feel similarly comfortable with close friends, therapists, and immediate family, while co-workers and neighbors rank lower. Only evangelicals show a majority (56%) comfortable confiding in clergy, compared with about one-third among non-evangelical Protestants, Catholics, and LDS members.
