Why are IMAX cameras so notoriously loud?

IMAX 15/70 cameras are noisy because they must move 15-perforation 65 mm film at 24 fps, pulling 5.6 feet of film each second, which requires a powerful motor and creates a loud mechanical rattle. A vacuum plate flattens each frame, adding a high-pitched suction hum that further amplifies the overall sound.
